West Africa Mercy Mission (WAMM) Children’s Home
West Africa Mercy Mission (WAMM) Children’s Home is Human Capital and Social Development International’s (
Hucasdevi Ghana
) selected orphanage for 2020. WAMM is a children’s home for orphaned and abandoned children as well as children with special needs. It’s established by West Africa Mercy Ministries, which is a non-profit, faith-based organisation that works in Ghana, West Africa. Their mission is to Glorify God and Love Jesus through Mercy Ministry. WAMM was established in 2003 to champion the cause of children with special needs and those orphaned and/or abandoned.
HuCASDEVI visited the home on Saturday, July 19, 2020 to interact, have fun with and make donation to the children. The home is administered by Rev. William and Priscilla Deku whose love for the children is amazing and phenomenal. HuCASDEVI’s team was led by
Kwadwo Konadu
, the Executive Director and
Ezekiel Doku
, a Project Officer. The children are housed in a siren cosy environment to give them the desired environment to cater for their needs.
Since 2013, HuCASDEVI has visited over 8 orphanages or Foster Homes including one special needs children home; OrphanAid Africa now OAfrica. Our visits have been joyful and fun-filled but our visit to WAMM was very emotional, mixed feelings and humbling. For the first time in our visits both the Executive Director and the accompanying officer couldn’t hold their tears upon meeting one of the children who is suffering from Hydrocephalus and as a result has made the head extremely big.
During the visit, HuCASDEVI donated ten (10) metallic stuffing chairs (from a USA based sponsor), bags of rice, toys, children reading books (from a sponsor in UK), boxes of children clothing (from a UK based Donor), bags of clothing and children shoes (from a Ghana based Donor), a box of water bottles and flask and others.
Receiving the items, Rev. William Deku said the donation was an answered prayers especially the stuffing chairs and the clothing as they were in dire need of them after moving to their new location. The children were also happy with their toys especially the cars and instantly started playing with them.
Rev. Mrs. Deku shouted with excitement and asked “are the chairs ours?” She expressed their gratefulness towards the gesture by HuCASDEVI.
This year we will need more support from our various donors, supporters, friends and sponsors to push our selected children’s home for 2020. Currently the home needs Ghs23,520.00 ($4,090.57 or £3,224.42) to perform surgery on Baby Kwesi who’s 30 days old and suffering from Hydrocephalus. This is the same condition that has led one of the children to have a swollen head and only waiting to die as nothing can be done now.
We’ll be posting the letter from the hospital regarding the surgery for your attention and support.
God bless you for your continual support.
